The 'Falling Skies' survivors walk path to the unknown

What's in Charleston? That's a major question as TNT's post-alien-invastion drama, Falling Skies, continues its second season, with members of the 2nd Mass. moving toward that South Carolina city with hope and some trepidation.
"The pilgrimage is the skeleton of the second half of the season," star Noah Wyle told a Comic-Con audience Friday.
The group doesn't know what awaits as it travels toward Charleston, fending off alien attackers along the way. Boston
history professor Tom Mason, played by Wyle, has the hope of being at the table as a new government is formed. "Other characters have different notions," Wyle said.
Once the group gets there, Tom will meet a man from his past, played by Lost's Terry O'Quinn, executive producer Remi Aubuchon said.
"I think Charleston is not exactly what they think it's going to be," Aubuchon said.
In the meantime, other events are taking take place.
Karen (Jessy Schram), Hal's first love, returns after being held by the aliens, leaving her suspect, as Tom and Ben (Connor Jessup) are, in some people's eyes.
The relationship between Tom and Anne Glass "gets consummated," says Moon Bloodgood, who plays Anne, the group's doctor. However, "it's a very subtle romance. There are so many more things happening in a post-apocalyptic world."
And Tom's sons are still adjusting to his return after months away with the aliens. They had to grow up a bit while he was away, with Hal (Drew Roy) assuming more of a parenting role that sometimes chafed at Ben.
"Nobody likes being ordered around by an older brother, whether it's 'Go clean your room,' or 'Don't shoot that alien,' " Jessup said.
Aubuchon said Skies differs from other apocalyptic stories. "These people are desperately trying to hold onto their humanity and keep their heads while others are losing theirs. When that's the goal, trust has to be an element."
