Supermodel Claudia Schiffer is at the centre of a bizarre claim by a Russian businessman that she had his child.

Bild newspaper in Germany reported that Aleksander Gavrilov filed a claim with a Russian court in Tscheboksary stating that he is the father of Schiffer’s baby girl and wants authorities in Germany to make her undergo a DNA test to prove his.

‘I would like to participate in the upbringing of the child,’ he said.

But the court said because she lives in the UK any claim against her would have to go through the British justice system.

The blue-eyed German fashion siren, 41, whose image has graced over 500 magazine covers across the world, strenuously denies his claims saying she has never before heard of the man from the remote Chuvash Republic, in Central Russia where he hails from.

A representative for Ms Schiffer said the story was ‘totally crazy and untrue’ and ‘absolute nonsense.’ 

He says that they met over the Internet and that he never knew who Claudia was.

He said it was only afterwards when he saw media reports showing her pregnant that he ‘realized’ his lover and the supermodel were one and the same.

Mr Gavrilov now considers Claudia’s second daughter, Cosima Violet, born in May 2010, his own. Claudia has three children with her husband, British director Mattew Vaughn, to whom she has been married for nearly 10 years.

Before that, Ms Schiffer dated magician David Copperfield and was a regular star guest at his shows.

Back in 2002, an Italian admirer of the model who later turned out to be mentally ill was arrested after making nine visits to her home in England in the hope of meeting her. He explained that the Pope had asked him to marry the German beauty.

Several years later another fan from Canada, was accused of harassing her at her mansion in Suffolk, bombarding her with love letters.

That same year she married film director Matthew Vaughn and the couple has three children.
